These Photos Show What Working From Home With Pets Is Like
Many pet owners appreciate the extra time they have with their pets while working from home. That being said, working in the same place you live isn't always a walk in the park when you have pets (pun intended). If you thought staying focused was hard with all the distractions you have at home, just imagine having a living teddy bear by your side, begging for your attention. Whether it's a cat climbing all over the laptop or a dog making their way into a video chat, these humorous photos show how adorably frustrating it can be having a pet as a coworker.
I Will Give You Kisses!
It seems like this dog had been trying to get its owner's attention for quite some time before this photo was taken. Now the adorable canine has resorted to shoving its face next to the laptop since that's clearly what is taking all of the owner's attention.
Most adorable is that the dog is sticking out its tongue. If it were a human, we would think it was trying to scold the owner. But since it's a pooch, we know it's just trying to give its owner a kiss, and that is why humans don't deserve dogs.
Piggy-Back Time?
This dog is clearly doing all it can to get its owner to look back at it. It can't be easy to focus on work with the weight of your dog pressing down on your shoulders, both literally and metaphorically.
The poor guy is still trying to type as his dog gets into piggy-back position while licking the owner's neck and ears. From a dog-owner perspective, it's ridiculously cute, but from an employee perspective, it's about as distracting as being blasted with a megaphone.
You Know You Want To Pet Me
We have to give props to this cat's confidence. Its eyes seem to say "you know you want to pet me" while rubbing its fur on its owner's arm. If this were a spy film, we'd be sure the cat was a double agent based on its persuasiveness.
The cat positioned itself perfectly so that the owner can't type without feeling its fur, and also so that the feline is completely covering her open notebook.
Guardians Of The Workplace
The way these birds are perched all along their owner's computer monitor makes them look like the guardians of the workplace. The only problem is that the bird down at the end is facing the wrong direction; maybe that one's job is to keep tabs on the owner while they're working.
We would imagine that it'd be difficult to get work done when you have four birds sitting at the top of the screen, especially with their tail feathers obstructing the view.
No Pressure Or Anything
Sure, having three dogs provides you with three times the love, snuggles, and playtime. But it also means you have three times the amount of pressure radiating from those begging faces!
Just imagine typing away on your laptop and then seeing a train of adorable pooches, all of which are looking right at you. No matter how hard their owner tries to ignore it, you know they're seeing all three dogs out of their peripheral vision 24/7.
Doggy Takeover
This dog must have tried all the tricks it had-- from begging to licking to running around. Ultimately, it had to resort to a full-body takeover. The sweet canine is climbing on top of its owner so that you can't even see her face under all of the fur.
In case blinding the owner wasn't enough, the dog's back paw is positioned and ready to pin down the owner's hand so she physically can't type. It's not the smoothest of approaches, but we commend the canine's effort.
Screaming For Attention
This kitten at least positioned itself between the owner at her laptop, rather than plopping right on top of the keyboard like some of the other cat's have done. But just because her position doesn't prevent her owner from working doesn't mean that her meowing doesn't.
Though you can't hear the noise the young cat is making, the expression on its face is practically audible. You know that kitty is borderline hissing at its person for attention.
Just A Cat Chasing A Mouse
If we didn't know better, we'd think the cat was trying to make sense of the computer screen's facts and figures. Maybe the feline is attempting to discern what makes this computer screen so interesting that it has the ability to steal the owner's attention all day.
Tom and Jerry taught us that cats love to chase mice, but maybe it was the wrong kind of mouse all along! This cat seems like it would love a good game of computer mouse chase.
Sharing The Work Space
This owner has both cats and a dog to deal with while working from home. The cats have had no problem unwinding on their owner's desk. Meanwhile, the dog has wedged its way under the desk with its cute little face popping up between the owner's knees.
While there's no way to work with all of these animals taking up the workspace, at least the owner gets to feel like an A-list celebrity surrounded by adoring fans.
The Cat Boss
This cat isn't even trying to be discreet about blocking their owner from working. It seems blissfully unaware that its owner needs to work on that laptop. If it was aware, then it certainly doesn't care because sniffing that mug is far more important.
One of the best parts of this photo is the note that's taped on the laptop below the keyboard. It reads "I work hard so my cat can have a better life."
An Energetic Bundle Of Joy
One of the perks of working at home is that you can stay in bed all day with your laptop. The downside is that also gives your dog all the more access to your "workspace."
Who could stay focused with a little pooch like this one rolling around with a big smile on its face right next to your work? If we were working next to this pup we'd have to give it a pet at least once every 0.2 seconds.
An Adorable Worker Helmet
Who knew a trucker hat was the perfect place for a kitten to perch? This man must have some incredible focus to have remained still as his adorable kitty climbed up his arms and shoulders and carefully maneuvered onto his head.
It looks like he's trying to keep a straight face while knowing full-well that his cat is on his head and leaning forward to see check out his computer screen. You just can't get mad at something that cute.
The Best Meeting Interruption
Many companies take advantage of video chat so that remote employees can be included in meetings. Unlike meetings at the office, virtual meetings can include pets, which are typically kept out of the video's frame.
As this picture illustrates, you never know when your sweet doggo will get the sudden urge to give you a smooch. This photo was perfectly timed so that the dog owner is making a hilarious face while trying to contain her dog and maintain her professionalism.
Too Sweet To Ignore
Between sassy cats plopping in front of computer screens and begging dogs who are blissfully unaware of personal space, you may be thinking owners should have a little more authority. But then you see this sweet face and your heart melts.
Though the dog is probably distracting its owner from work, it's a welcome interruption. Who doesn't want to hold hands with their pooch while it looks at you with loving eyes and a big smile?
Just Chin Scratching
This cat has mastered the art of discreetly asking for attention. It seems to be saying, "Nothing to see here, just giving my chin a little scratch." At the same time, it's suggesting to the owner that it could really use a good petting right about now.
Imagine you're looking at your work and in the top corner is your cat's cute little face as it struggles to get its petting fix on your laptop.
Look At ME!
This cat is the exact opposite of the one we just saw because there is nothing discreet about it whatsoever. It has literally climbed onto its owner's face so that the two are nose-to-nose.
It almost looks like the cat is hypnotizing its owner, or at least trying to. The owner is laying back with her laptop far enough away that the cat has plenty of room to get right in between its owner and her work, just like it wanted.
What Do You Mean I Can't Climb On The Table?
If this photo were in 3D, we would be convinced that the dog was coming out of the screen to give us a big lick. The dog is standing on the table with such confidence that we wonder if the dog actually thinks of its owner's furniture as gym equipment.
If you can manage to look past the dog, you'll notice that the table is covered in work materials. You have a laptop, a thick binder full of documents, and a calculator all surrounding this clueless dog.
We Need To Have A Talk
The first thing we need to mention about this photo is that the cat is sitting like a person. If that weren't enough, it also has a facial expression of disappointment. The cat looks like it's getting ready to have a word with its owner about the importance of playtime.
The best part is that it's using the owner's laptop as an armrest. We're pretty sure this cat believes itself to be a human.
A Little Background Music
This dog has clearly passed the phase of trying to look cute and snuggle up to its owner. At this point, it's literally yelling at the owner's back. The owner has responded by wearing headphones while trying to video chat.
Hopefully, it's not a professional meeting because it would be difficult to get down to business while ignoring a howling dog. It seems the canine and its owner are playing a game of who will give in first?
This Lap Is Reserved
This cat looks like it's used to snuggling up on momma's lap. The laptop is a nuisance, but that won't stop this pet from performing her usual regimen. There's just enough room on the keyboard for kitty to get comfy.
It must be a tough decision for the owner: work-filled screen or fluffy ball of love? And even if the cat owner does move her needy coworker to another spot, we're confident it will just come crawling back to its beloved lap.
These Paws Were Made For Walkin'
Oh, you were doing a puzzle during your isolation period? That's cute. Obviously, your cat had other ideas as to what you should be doing during the quarantine. And clearly, it’s something more important than utilizing your brain for a game, such as feeding him.
"These paws were made for walkin', and that’s just what they’ll do, one of these days these paws are going to walk all over your puzzle unless you feed me, scratch my head, and then leave me alone for the rest of the day."
When Quarantine Is Mandatory But Judgement Is Life
If we're going to stereotype cats, they tend to be judgy animals. They have very expressive faces that make you feel as though everything you do is beneath them. Well, this cat got tired of its owner’s antics and needed some new subjects to scrutinize.
And there’s nothing quite like a cat on a mission to look out the window with a glare. With its back paws on the best and its front on the window sill, it’s a good thing cats defy gravity!
So, When Are You Going Back To School?
A lot of people are starting to get a bit stir-crazy sitting at home all day during the quarantine. And it looks like this cat's owner is no different. Nothing says "when are you going back to school, tiny human" than a cat covered in dinosaur figurines.
His face is the epitome of the phrase “the calm before the storm.” (The storm, in this case, being the tiny human getting an arm full of scratch marks if they don’t take the toys off this black cat ASAP.)
VP Of Working From Home
This is the look of the co-worker you never asked your boss to hire. They're breathing down your neck, partially covering your keyboard, and giving you a death stare that screams, "if you put one foot out of line, I’m sending a letter to HR."
That or this fuzzy cat is wondering when his designated feeding and grooming time is scheduled on this calendar. If we had to guess, it looks like the human forgot to select a specific time, and he’s not thrilled.
He Just Wants A Cat-Bod
A lot of people are taking the time in quarantine to get back in shape for the summer. And what better way to start the journey than with some low weights and a yoga component? Unfortunately, this cat is not overly amused with their human's decision to better themselves.
If the kitty’s eyes tell us anything, it’s that this "working out thing" isn’t going to fly. This cat needs its couch potato buddy during this hard time!
Lazy Co-Worker
Well, this is one of the worst co-workers we've ever seen. She came to work late, yawned through two Zoom meetings, and is now sleeping on the job, literally. If this human thinks they’re going to get this cat off the iPad for any reason, they’re sadly mistaken.
The tablet is probably nice and warm from charging. There’s no way the cat is going to make moves to leave its personal heating pad!
Barely Hanging On Being Around Humans All Day
This cat is a total mood, just hanging off the couch, most likely wishing their human would go back to the office so they can have a moment of peace. Like we said, total mood. If the human could hang half-way off the couch, we'd bet money they would jump right to it.
It’s a whole "half hanging on to our sanity; half we’re falling off the deep end" pose. Hopefully, this cat can hang in there for a few more weeks of self-isolation!
The Face Of A Cat Being Put On A Quarantine Diet
When the quarantine was issued, a lot of people took it as a chance to start eating a bit healthier and to start redefining their lifestyle. And, if you couldn't tell, this fat cat is so not down for the cause.
When a human starts eating healthy, they start thinking about their pets and making them healthier too. It looks as though this kitty is plotting to go on strike before they allow their human to stop giving them treats.
Social Distancing Has Us All Like…
As social distancing becomes the new norm around the world, this cat is feeling the effects. Per typical cat behavior, this guy decided to up the ante and be overly dramatic. Hate to break it to you, friend, but you're not actually in jail!
It might feel like it, but there is no way you weren’t able to go around the banister to get pets from your human. We guess that must have been too simple. Either that, or this cat is taking the six-feet rule very seriously.
So Over The 24-7 Human Interaction
A few weeks in quarantine, and this cat is looking to end their human permanently. The black cat was unaware that it doesn't have thumbs to grip the knife, but we’re not going to stomp on his dreams.
At least he had the decency to look a bit startled when getting caught. Sorry, but the cat’s out of the bag. We know you weren’t organizing, but trying to figure out a way to get the knife out of the block.
Social Distancing Pros
For all of you "cool cats and kittens" out there, take a page out of these two felines' books. Keep six feet away from others! But who are we kidding, these two probably don’t want to be close to each other, per typical cat behavior.
Regardless, we’re going to use them as a good example of social distancing! They aren’t sitting close to one another and are doing nothing more than staring at the ground. Well, maybe don’t stare at the ground, but do keep your distance!
The Last Face You'll Ever See
If this isn't the face of a cat who is really over their human being home, then we’re not sure what is. We thought we were all itching to be outside, but it looks like this cat is feeling the heat of the walls closing in a lot more than us.
If we could talk to this cat’s human directly, we’d tell them to maybe go out to their front or back yard for a bit and give their cat some space. Either that or we hope they have band-aids for the scratches they’re about to get!
Can I Offer You Some Creepiness In This Trying Time?
With most people taking their work home, pets are beyond confused, especially cats who enjoy their "me time." This cat is especially confused as to why their human is organizing their typically empty desk and settling in for the long haul.
So, in standard cat fashion, he decided to stare its human down until they most likely became extremely uncomfortable. That, or an epic stare-down occurred with the half-face kitty. Our bet is the cat won.
What Day Is It?
This cat is thinking what we're all thinking, "what day is it?" He literally looks like he just woke up from a winter coma and has no clue where he is, what time it is, or what day of the week it happens to be.
He’s sending us major Robin Williams Jumanji vibes. But if Williams’ character was a cat and not human and he was wondering the day and not the actual year.
Stay Inside You Say? Sure!
This cat took it upon itself to take social distancing and quarantine to a whole other level. Obviously, the house or apartment wasn't enough for this germophobe; he needed to have his only little sanctuary that no human would dare to enter.
Okay, maybe not dare to enter, more like they can’t fit into the cat bed, so they don’t have a choice in the matter. But if that wasn’t a deterrent, the "don’t even think about it" facial expression would definitely keep anyone back.
Been Self-Quarantined Before It Was Government Ordered
If you told this cat that the government said quarantining is the best option right now, it'd probably laugh in your face. Well, if cats could laugh, that is. Clearly, Sir Kitty is beyond content in his brown bag home.
And, by the looks of it, he’s been there for some time. Obviously he’s been self-isolating himself way before his humans and is now in the business of staying far away from everyone else in the world.
When Someone Is Stealing Your Title Of Tiger King
Joe Exotic clearly didn't talk to this cat before titling himself the "Tiger King." Anyone looking at this cat knows that he thinks the title is his, and Joe Exotic needs to take his words back before kitty takes his paws out from underneath him and starts a fight.
Actually, that fight might be interesting to watch. We’ll just have to make sure to put sardine oil on Mr. Exotic’s shoes, just to make things interesting.
Settling For A Different Type Of Mouse
The thing with self-isolating is that we're all stuck at home without any interaction, aside from whoever lives in the house with us. In this case, a cat. But there seems to be a problem with the cat.
Clearly, he’s been inside for far too long and is mildly confused as to what type of mouse he is staring at. Even though he looks confused, we bet it took a solid five seconds after this picture was taken for him to either try and bite the mouse or knock it off the table.
Giving Up On Life Underneath Table Cloths
This cat is the epitome of what most people are thinking during the quarantine. Find some fabric, not even a blanket, lie underneath it, and just have one hand (paw) sticking out, so it looks like a crime scene.
To say we don't feel this cat’s mood on a deeply personal level would be an understatement. If we were tiny enough to fit underneath that floral print with him, we wouldn’t hesitate.
Wait, You're Working From Home For How Long?
This is the face of a cat who doesn't quite understand when their human says, "I’m going to be working from home for the next few weeks." Their human must be putting a damper on their daily antics, whatever those may be.
We don’t think we’ve ever seen a cat so concerned with how their life is unfolding. This one especially looks like he needs to talk to a professional because it looks like he’s about to make a drastic, life-changing decision.
