Taylor Swift And Shawn Mendes Release Duet
Shawn Mendes and Taylor Swift have known each other for a long time. Mendes used to perform as an opening act on Taylor Swift's tour and he's joined her onstage as a surprise guest performer, but they've never released a song together - until now.
Mendes has joined Swift on a remix of her hit song 'Lover' which was released on November 13th. The song includes new lyrics by Mendes: "We can light a bunch of candles and dance around the kitchen, baby / Pictures of when we were young hang on the wall / We'll sit on the stoop / I'll sing love songs to you."
Swift made the surprise announcement on Instagram in a video to her fans.
"Hey guys, I wanted to tell you about something that I'm really excited about. There is a new version of 'Lover’ coming," said Swift. "A remix, featuring someone who I'm such a huge fan of, who I’ve known for a really long time, and someone that I’ve always really been dying to collaborate with."
"So drumroll, please ... It is featuring Shawn Mendes, and he has taken 'Lover' and he has rewritten parts of it, which I think is so important because I love him as a writer," she continued. "And I also think that everybody would write a different love letter to their lover and I think his take on it is so beautiful. I can't wait for you to hear it. I’m so, so, so excited about this and I hope you are too."
Looking at the lyrics and the way Mendes sings the song, his girlfriend, who also was once an opening act on Swift's tour, is one lucky lady. Get ready to hear this song at every wedding ever!
